About the Course
Holidays at The Children’s Workshop are welcomed as an excellent opportunity to bring history into the cultural discussion. We see holidays as a unique and exciting opportunity to introduce the children to pivotal moments from our collective past.
Â
Thanksgiving brings us the story of the European exploration of, and settlement into, the New World. It also brings us the story of America’s indigenous people.
Â
Hanukkah brings us the story of the Jewish people holding their own against religious oppression.
Â
Christmas brings us the story of the beginnings of one of the world’s major religions.
Â
Kwanzaa brings us the ideas of unity and cooperation with each other and the Chinese New Year brings us renewal and joyful beginnings.
