Lessons Of Grace And Courtesy

We begin each year with the lessons of grace and courtesy. When the child enters the classroom his social circle is greatly expanded. This is the exact time to teach mannered and respectful behavior. Our children are at the perfect age to learn manners, courtesy, thoughtfulness and respect.

We isolate desired behaviors and then teach them to the child. We teach greetings, how to ask for something, how to excuse oneself, how to blow one’s nose. We teach sharing and taking turns. We teach respect for each other’s work and concentration. We teach attention and focus. We teach listening. Above all else, we teach inclusiveness.

The kinds of lessons that can be presented are endless. Good manners are the very foundation of living together in harmony and peace. They are the foundation of tolerance and respect for each individual as they are.
