Why are the old stories important? Why do we return to the people and events of our collective past? It may be that as we celebrate and remember what they accomplished, we are looking for a model of what we can be today.

 

 

Especially today as we search for powerful and convincing evidence that courage pays, that it is indeed the duty of the strong to protect the weak, that we can individually, by our own actions, make the world a better place. Through these stories we are able to present the children with models of human beings at their best, men and women exhibiting courage, hard work, integrity and grit.
